5 ways we give away our energetic power

It's no surprise that often we find ourselves pretty drained at the end of the day and take a moment to realize that we are giving energy to things that really don't need as much attention as we should give it.

I see energy as power and a simple analogy is every time we plug ourselves into an activity or a person we are giving away our power, whether it be positive power or not.

These are a few things we can be mindful of during our day when it comes to giving our energy that will cause us to feel drained at the end of the day.

Checking Social Media Constantly: I am super guilty of this particular energy consuming activity, I am still learning but have realized that by limiting my time on social medial allows me to be a lot more present in my current situations. Check the screen time on your phone to gauge how much time you spend on social media per week. If the number surprises you in a bad way try setting limits for yourself. Your mental and emotional health will thank you.

Lacking Quality Sleep:  If there is anyone that is a master in the importance of sleep it's me. While I was in my corporate career there were days I only slept about 8 hours over a 72 hour period. NOT HEALTHY! Apart from extreme adrenal overload I found it hard to even relax because I was so wired. Getting quality sleep at night is essential in feeling energized throughout your day. Its recommended that 7-9 hours of sleep is ideal for a healthy adult. I find the important time to get into "sleep mode" is to have a repetitive nightly routine that gets your body and mind into the zone of sleeping and relaxing.

Staying Angry or Holding onto Baggage: I just went to a training where I learned about baggage. There are people out there that hold and fight to hold onto their baggage! It's as if they loose it somehow they will loose their identity. Holding onto a grudge or anger can be consuming and can affect your health negatively. Finding a coping mechanism can allow you to start the process of letting go and finding peace.

Skipping Workouts Because You Are Tired:  Our bodies were made for motion and not to live a sedentary lifestyle. Keeping your workouts consistent and completing them even when you are tired can ironically increase your energy levels and your endorphins (which make you feel happy). A simple plan of action? Ask yourself what are the best times you can work out in your schedule? Or what time of day works best for me? I like going on my walk in the morning to get my body moving and at the end of the day to do my more aggressive workout.

Letting Life Happen Instead of Sticking to the Plan: Of course, life will take you by surprise and put an obstacle in your way to test you but having clear goals and a plan can help you take your life back and not be in reactionary state all the time. Before I realized that I was the author of my own life and I could plan out more than a vacation or hanging out with friends I didn't realize that I would actual design my own life. Having a clear concise plan of your week and month will help you stay more focused and not get deterred by roadblocks.

I hope these 5 energy saving habits are a helpful remind to you that YOU have the ability and the control in your life and your power. Make sure to consider your energy and power as sacred.
